September Business Dinner & Annual General Meeting - 22 September 2010 - Perth Convention Exhibition Centre

"A Fortunate Life"

Join us for dinner with our special guest speaker Vern Reid.  Vern is the CEO of RugbyWA with a very special story to tell.

Vern Reid has spent most of his working life in or around professional sport, beginning with the Australian Hardcourt Tennis Championships in Sydney in 1983.  He undertook the Media and Marketing roles at the America's Cup Defence in Fremantle and, following the departure of the Cup, spent four years planning and building the Endeavour Replica.  After the Cup, he joined EventsCorp as the Director of Special Events, where he organised the Australian leg of the Professional Boardsailors Association World Cup event at Scarborough Beach.

Vern was then appointed the General Manager of the Perth Wildcats, WA's team in the National Basketball League, and he also served as a Board Member with Basketball WA during this time. Following his time with the Wildcats, Vern joined the Fremantle Football Club as Marketing Manager in 1997, and his time at the club included a short period as acting CEO. He joined the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation as Chief Executive Officer, and was appointed to the Board of RugbyWA following the formation of the Emirates Western Force in 2005.  Vern is currently Chairman of Trustees of the Warren Jones Foundation, a Board Member of Perth 2011 (the ISAF pre Olympic regatta to be held in Fremantle in December 2011), having served on the Board of the WA Yachting Foundation. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer of RugbyWA in May 2009.

The 2010 Office Professionals' Day Breakfast & Awards was a great success. With 340 people attending, the atmosphere was electric and festive. Our theme this year was a fresh new garden look. Our moto...to plant a garden is to believe in the future.  This theme relates to our National theme of 'Moving Forward'.
